The Show Must Go On!

The rebuilding of our downtown is contingent on the creation of entertainment opportunities that will entice residents (especially younger residents and businesses that cater to them) to occupy downtown property and buildings. This is why the Steubenville Historic Landmarks Foundation has launched the Grand Theater Restoration Project. The Grand Theater building was originally built to house a saloon and livery station in the 1880s. It was converted into a theater in the 1920s, operated under several theater companies and finally closed in 1979. Restoration began in 2010. The restoration plans for the theater include significant facade work and plaster restoration of the main theater ceiling and walls. Once the theater is restored, it will be open to the public as a movie theater, performing arts center, and local museum for the arts. For more information, visit www.HistoricSteubenville.org
